Cheltenham Top 10?

Really pleased that we have been able to announce this morning my appointment as Team Vicar in Cheltenham serving St Philip and St James and The Church at Warden Hill.

It's handy for Greenbelt. You can get good local organic food. The countryside isn't too far away (Cotswolds, Forest of Dean, West Country, South Wales). It's only a short journey to Gloucester Cathedral or Tewkesbury Abbey.

I look forward to meeting you: sorry it won't be until next June as we are currently in exile.

  2. Some (not me!) would say The Robins (Cheltenham Town FC).
As Jeremy has said, there is lovely countryside nearby - lots of walking and birding opportunities, with lovely Glossyshire pubs for lunch. And yes, Gloucester Cathedral and Tewkesbury Abbey are both stunning.
Cheltenham itself has parts which have village type communities. It is famous for its Festivals - the Literature and Music Festivals are particularly renowned. It also has 5 churches designed by John Middleton, of which St Philip and St James is particularly friendly.
Welcome to Cheltenham, Nick. Look forward to meeting you in February.

Congratulations! We look forward to meeting you, Helen and Oscar.
Cheltenham has so much to offer, surrounded by the Cotswold Hills and lovely green spaces in town.
There is almost always some kind of festival going on.
Great pubs, cafes and places to relax.
I am sure you will be very happy here.

  4. All the other comments are true but the one thing you will find moving from the South East is that people talk to you. In shops, at bus queues, in the street they will stop and have a chat. There is also Gloucester Rugby to go to see

  5. Dear Jeremy, Cottia, Family Hutton and Mike, thanks for the info. Looking forward to meeting you all. It all sounds really lovely and Helen and I are thinking of getting bikes to cycle round soaking it all up. See you in the New Year!

  6. Got to be the pace of life....things are so much more relaxed - visible even in the amount of traffic on the roads.

  7. Coffee shops are the best thing about cheltenham! Every other shop serves coffee... Me and Tom have probably visited them all (doing serious work mentoring young people!)

  8. Caffeine and youth work sounds like a dangerous combination! Looking forward to hearing all about it.
