with apologies to Austin Farrer who said priests should be walking sacraments of the grace of God
Shells?
My first crisis in blogging is what to call the thing!
Well, I thought about names and poems and clever Greek words or aramaic for that matter. Then thought about photography and travel and faith and the world and then settled down for a lager to think some more.
I thought about the journey of faith that I am on, of post modernity and paradox and provisionality. I thought about how I might use this blog to share things that I found along the way. And then I thought of the Camino de Santiago, the pilgrim way along Northern Spain- which I am yet to do.
The symbol of the pilgrim is a shell a Scallop shell to be precise which are plentiful along the coast there. It was a proof of completing the pilgrimage, part of the myth of St. James, a symbol of where the waves of God's mercies choose to throw us and a useful means of scooping water from streams along the way. Take your pick.
I also love beaches and sunshine and beachcombing and picking up mementos of where I've been.
So there you go, 'Shells on a beach', my entry into Blogosphere.
Welcome to my world...
